How to Enjoy Rainy Days at the Hotel During your Vacation

We strongly believe that summer vacations come with a combination of both excitement and fear. You are obviously stoked to discover new things, temporarily escape from your daily routine and take a break from your usual responsibilities. Yet you still dread the moment you look at the weather forecast, only to find out that the rain is going to ruin the majority of your vacation. The inconvenient truth is that your plans are completely dependent on the weather and your activities are subject to last minute changes.

We thought of you. Together, we will eliminate once and for all the fear that creates unnecessary anxiety for your yearly vacation, especially when your getaways are supposed to help us relax.

Firstly, there is no point in worrying about an external factor that we cannot control. With this in mind, if rain is expected during your stay at the hotel, take a moment to accept the situation. Once this is done, it is time to move on to the master plan: a perfect rainy vacation.

A Perfect Rainy Vacation

The next thing to do after accepting the fact is to immediately stop wishing that the weather will change. Now is the time to replan your vacation according to the bad weather. The ideal backup plan would be to alternate between a day at the hotel and another day elsewhere. This can be considered as a healthy combo. Here’s what we recommend:

1. Visit Places and Fully Accept the Rain

If you are fully aware that it is going to rain, the best solution is to fully embrace it. You have probably already seen the colourful rain boots that have taken over by storm. Pick your favorite color and do not forget your windbreaker as you go and visit the same places as you had initially planned, but by accepting mother nature’s misfit to put aside the circumstances and enjoy the moment. If you do not already have your boots, this is the perfect occasion to add a shopping trip to the schedule. Open your computer and make a list of the monuments, parks and historical sites you want to see. See the city from a different perspective!

2. A Day of Board Games with a Prize to Finish It Off

We all know the effect of putting a prize up for grabs. Indeed, a game or challenge is a lot more interesting when you reward the winner with a treat.

We have all played board games before, but we have decided to reinvent the wheel by transforming it into a friendly competition. The idea is quite simple: every player chooses their ideal plans for the night ahead, which is the prize for the winner. This will turn the whole day into a tight battle for the top of the leaderboard game after game whether you play Monopoly, Guess Who, Snakes and ladders, and the list goes on. Many establishments often provide popular board games as well as a game room with a baby foot and pool table to add to the competition.

3. The Classic: Museum & Movie Theater Combo

A day at the museum and/or a day at the movie theater is a no-brainer under the circumstances. City websites always offer a list of museums to visit in the region. Although these places might be unusually crowded due to the weather, they are definitely worth the visit. We also made a list of interesting movie releases in Quebec for the rest of the summer!

  • Men in Black: International

  • Toy Story 4 (no comments necessary)

  • Spider-Man: Far From Home

  • Menteur (our favorite from Quebec)

  • The Lion King (Perfect for the entire family)

  • Once Upon a Time In Hollywood

  • Playmobil: The Movie

Rain or Shine, Here We Go!

We now recommend to change your mindset and start to look forward to rainy vacation days. Hotels can become your source of inspiration and there is no need to abandon all of your projects simply because of rain. We only ask one favor in return: Think of us when you jump feet-first in puddles of water!
